King Eric (Blood Axe) of Norway and York

Eric, known as Blood Axe, was born in 0885.¹ Blood Axe's father was Harald (Fairhari, Fine Hair) Harfarger Halfdansson I and his mother was Ragnhilde Eriksdottir. His paternal grandparents were King of Vestfold Halfdan (The Black) Gudrodsson III and Raginhild Sigurdsdatter; his maternal grandparents were King Erik of Jutland and <Unknown>. He had three brothers named Halfdan, Sigurd and Alofo. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had five half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Rorek, Sigtrygg, Frode, Thorgils, The Merchant, Ingeborg and Aarbod. He died at the age of 69 in 0954 in Stainmore, Westmorland.²
