Gregory was born in 0815 in Naples, Campania, Italy.1   Gregory's father was Duke Sergius of Naples I and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were Duke Athanasius of Naples I and <Unknown>.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 51 in 0866.1
