Galiena was born in 1126 in Exning, Newmarket, Suffolk, England.¹ Galiena's father was 3rd Baron of Ixworth William le Blount and her mother was Sarah de Munchesni. Her paternal grandparents were Baron Ixworth Gilbert le Blount and Alicia Colekirk; her maternal grandparents were Hubert de Munchesney and Emma de Hedenton. She had two brothers named Herbert and William. She was the youngest of the three children.
