Alberic (The Monk) de Vere (Aubrey) 
Alberic, known as The Monk, was born in 1033 in Hedingham, Essex, England.1 The Monk's father was Alphonso de Vere of Hedingham and his mother was Katherine of Flanders. His paternal grandparents were Count Manussus de Vere and Petronella of Boulogne; his maternal grandparents were Baldwin of Flanders IV and Ogive de Ardennes. He was an only child. He died at the age of 55 in 1088 in Hedingham, Essex, England.1 General Notes
