Ruellan de Verdun (Rowland de Verdun) 
Ruellan was born about 1136 in Alton Castle, Cheadle, Staffordshire, England.1 Ruellan's father was Norman de Verdon and his mother was Lacseline de Clinton. His paternal grandparents were Lord of Farnham Bertram de Verdon and Maude de Ferreres; his maternal grandparents were Lord Chamberlain & Treasurer Geoffrey de Clinton and Alice de Beaumont. He had three brothers and a sister, named Bertram, Walter, Hugh and Alicia.General Notes
Ruellan de Verdun, held one fee de novo of Bertram II de Verdun, his kinsman. He was perhaps a brother of Bertram and father of the Rualon de Verdun 'iuniore' who was named in a charter of Henry de Clinton for Kenilworth abbey. In the cartulary of Avranches cathedral there is a charter by Beatrix daughter of Ruellan de Verdun, 'domina de Mestruil', widow of Richard Malherbe and richard Peilevilain, granting two fields at Saint-Martin-des -Champs.
