Hubert was born in 1100 in Irthington, Cumberland, England.1   Hubert's father was Robert de Vaux and his mother was de Munchesney.  His paternal grandparents were Robert de Vaux and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Hubert de Montchensney and <Unknown>.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 65 in 1165.1
