Harvey was born in 1194. Harvey's father was Hervey de Bigod and his mother was Millicent de Stafford. His paternal grandparents were Hervey Fitz de Bigod and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Robert de Stafford and Brasilla. He had a brother named Hugh. He was the younger of the two children.
