Hugh was born in 1066 in Basing, Hampshire, England.1   Hugh's father was Hubert de Port and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were Hughes Gospatric de Port and <Unknown>.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 31 in 1097.1
