Robert was born in 1187 in Plumpton, Spofforth, Yorkshire, England.1   Robert's father was Nigel de Plumpton and his mother was Juliana de Warwick.  His paternal grandparents were Peter de Plumpton and Helena.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 57 in 1244.1
