David (le Clerc) de Malpas 
David, known as le Clerc, was born in 1185 in Malpas, Cheshire, England.1 Le Clerc's father was William Belward and his mother was Tanghurst de Chester. His paternal grandparents were William le Belward and Mabilia FitzHugh; his maternal grandparents were Earl of Chester Hugh d'Avranches III and <Unknown>. He had three brothers named le Clerc, Robert and Richard. He was the youngest of the four children. He died at the age of 67 in 1252.1 General Notes

David de Malpas, called David le Clerk, was Justice of Chester 34th Henry II, 1188. Three different references assign to each a different wife, but most likely he married Catherine, daughter of Owen Vaughan, Lord of Melior. He may have been married three times. He had William, eldest son, who died without legitimate issue, and left his brother Philip Gogh, surnamed de Egerton, as his legal heir.
