Bertram was born about 1266 in Westwood, Preston, Kent, England. Bertram's father was Sir Bertram de Criol and his mother was Eleanor de Crevequer. His maternal grandparents were Baron of Chatham Hamon de Crevequer and Maud D'Avranches. He had a brother and two sisters, named Sir Nicholas, Joan and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the four children. He died in 1295 in Westwood, Preston, Kent, England.-
