Sir Philip was born in 1346 in Exeter, Devonshire, England.1 Sir Philip's father was Hugh de Courtenay and his mother was Margaret de Bohun. His paternal grandparents were Hugh De Courtenay and Agnes de Saint John. He had seven brothers and nine sisters, named Sir Edward, William, Peter, John, Humphrey, Robert, Hugh, Margaret, Elizabeth, Joane, Catherine, Matilda, Guenora, Anne, Isabel and Philippa. He died at the age of 60 on July 29th, 1406 in Powderham Castle, Powderham, Devonshire, England.-
