Tysilio's father was King of Powys Brochwel Ysgithrog ap Cyngen and his mother was Arddyn Benasgel verch Pabo.  His paternal grandparents were King of Powys Cyngen Glodrydd and Tudlwystl verch Brychan; his maternal grandparents were Pabo Post Prydain and <Unknown>. He had a brother named Cynan.1
