Hervius is unquestionably proved by Sir James Ware and William Roberts, Esq., Ulster King of Arms in the reign of Charles I (1625-1649). and by the indisputable authority of ancient records, to be the true and direct ancestor of this family. He accompanied the Conqueror in his expedition to England and obtained large possessions in the Counties of Norfolk, Suffolk and Lancaster, in which he was succeeded by Hervius Walter, his son, having also a daughter, Alicia, who became the wife of Ormus Magnus.
