Younger Richard,Jr. was born in 1847 in Green Co., Kentucky.¹ Younger Richard,Jr.'s father was Younger Richard Underwood and his mother was Elizabeth Milby. His paternal grandparents were Caleb Underwood and Elizabeth Wardrum. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Bluford, John D., William H., Mary Ann, Sarah Ann, Lucinda, Parthena, Rebecca Jane and Nancy E.. He was the fourth youngest of the ten children.
