Loy Ashby was born on May 18th, 1907 in Smoky Creek Twp, Burke Co, NC and his baptism took place in Census 1930. Loy Ashby's father was Horace Holman Tilley and his mother was Jennie S. Atkins. His paternal grandparents were Emmett Harrison Tilley and Sarah Jane Guest. He had a brother named Harold J.. He was the older of the two children.
