Mary A. was born about 1831 in Georgia. Mary A.'s father was Thomas Lafayett STAPLER Sr. and her mother was Mary (Mrs. Thomas Lafayette) STAPLER. Her paternal grandparents were John S. STAPLER and Ann NORMAN. She had three brothers and four sisters, named John Washington, Amos J., Thomas Lafayett, Sarah E., Martha A. D., Cynthia K. and Nancy. She was the third oldest of the eight children.-
