Ankaret verch was born in 1145 in Llandilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Ankaret verch's father was Rhys ap Gruffydd Prince of Deheubarth and her mother was Gwenllian verch Madog. Her maternal grandparents were Madog ap Maredydd Prince of Powys and Susanna verch Gruffydd. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Gruffudd ap, Rhys Gryg ap, Maelgwn Fawr ap, Elinor verch, Catherine verch, Gwenllian verch, Margred verch, Annest (Gwenllian) verch and Eva verch. She died at the age of 81 in 1226.General Notes
