John was born on December 17th, 1742 in Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co., VA.. John's father was Peter ROUTT Sr. and his mother was Martha GARNER. His maternal grandparents were Vincent GARNER Sr. and Martha Courtney. He had four brothers and two sisters, named George, William, Peter, James, Elizabeth and Hannah. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 85 in 1827 in Bracken Co., KY..-
