Christopher was born about 1485 in Killington, Westmoreland, England. Christopher's father was Sir James Pickering and his mother was Anne Moresby. His paternal grandparents were James Pickering and Margaret Lascelles. He had two brothers named James and Edward. He was the youngest of the three children.
