Weldon Elmer was born in Canby, Yamhill Co., Oregon.1 Weldon Elmer's father was James Anthony PAYTON and his mother was Cassandra THORNTON. His paternal grandparents were Thomas PAYTON and Martha Ann STOUT. He was an only child. He died on December 17th, 1946 in Danville, Vermillion Co., Illinois.2 General Notes

BIOGRAPHY: His father brought him back to live with relatives near Veedersburg, Indiana about 1891 and he never saw his father again. 1900 census: Boarding with Joshua(?) Langley(?) in Vandenburgand working as a day laborer. 1910 census: Living in Danville and working as a laborer. Served in Battalion A, Rainbow Division, National Guard.
