Rudy I. PAYTON 
Rudy I. was born on June 13th, 1877 in Parke Co., Indiana.1 Rudy I.'s father was John A. PAYTON and his mother was Lucinda Jane JOHNSON. His paternal grandparents were James Franklin PAYTON and Elizabeth RUSH. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Marion A., Fred Otis, Laura Alice, Etta May and Mary Elizabeth. He was the third youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 52 on May 5th, 1930 in Parke Co., Indiana. He was buried in Bethany Cemetery, Marshall, Indiana.1 1 General Notes

BIOGRAPHY: 1900 census: Farmer in Howard Township, owns a mortgaged farm.
WWI Draft Registration: Medium height, stout build, blue eyes, brown hair; farmer in Rockville.
1920 census: Farmer. 1920 Farmer's Directory: Post office of Marshall, Section 2, owns 80 acres. Lived in county since 1877. Listed in Judson telephone directory. Daughter Carrie's 1925 marriage registration has him as clerk in Marshall. 1930 census: Hardware store clerk. Known as Uncle Pud to Eleanor Burks Carter.
DEATH: Barbara Carter has 18 Oct 1930. Obituary in Crawfordsville Journal Review 6-May-1930 (p.3, col. 1).
