Peter was born in 1832 in Kentucky.1 Peter's father was James Newell and his mother was Ann Solomon. His paternal grandparents were Peter Newell and Susannah Durham. He had a brother and five sisters, named William, Mary J., Susan C., Nancy M., Pricilla and Sarah J.. He was the third oldest of the seven children.General Notes
