Caroline's father was Coleman Law and her mother was Susanna Southerland. Her maternal grandparents were Samuel Sutherland and Judith Foster. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Lewis, Webb John, Henry, Milley, Florence Beatrice and Susan Barnette.-
