Nicholas was born in 1296 in Bradley, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, England.1 Nicholas' father was Sir William de Kniveton and his mother was Isabel Wyther. His paternal grandparents were Henry Kniveton and Joan; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Wyther and Ursula de Cotegrave. He had two brothers and a sister, named Henry, John and Lettice. He was the second youngest of the four children.-
