Benjamin was born in 1653 in Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts. Benjamin's father was Isaac Johnson and his mother was Elizabeth Porter. His paternal grandparents were John Johnson and Mary Heath. He had six brothers and four sisters, named William, John, Joseph, Nathaniel, Nehemiah, Isaac, Elizabeth, Mary, Mehitable and Abigail.-
