Sarah A was born in August 1888 in Kentucky, United States. Sarah A's father was James "Jim " Austin Foster and her mother was Sue Ella Button. Her paternal grandparents were John William Foster and Martha Ann Allen. She had four brothers and three sisters, named James " Ed" Edie, William "Will" Morgan, David B, Samie D, Dra Ann, Minnie Lee and Nellie F.. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.-
