May was born on December 7th, 1903 in Glasgow, Barren Co., KY, US.1 May's father was James Edward Foster and her mother was Bedie Gassaway. Her paternal grandparents were George Henry Foster and Sarah Ann Elizabeth Gray. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Roger H, Eugene "Gene", Almond, Cecil D., Lucille W and Ida. She was the third youngest of the seven children. She died at the age of 67 on July 16th, 1971 in Glasgow, Barren Co., KY, US.-
