Robert was born in 1125 in Chipping Warden, Northamptonshire, England.1   Robert's father was Richard Foliot and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were Sampson Foliot and <Unknown>.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 49 in 1174.1
