Maurice Fitzgerald 
Maurice was born in 1190 in Offaly, Kildare, Ireland.1 Maurice's father was Gerald Fitzmaurice and his mother was Eva de Bermingham. His paternal grandparents were Maurice Fitzgerald de Wyndsore and Alice de Montgomery; his maternal grandparents were Robert de Bermingham and <Unknown>. He had four brothers named William, John, Thomas and Alexander. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 67 on May 20th, 1257 in Youghal, Ireland.2 Death Notes

MAURICE FITZGERALD, second Baron of Offaly, who succeeded his father by the mandatory letter of King Henry III, dated 26 Nov., 1216, and was put in possession of his father's lands; 1229 constituted Lord Justice of Ireland and, going to assist the King with great power beyond sea, was on his return made Lord Justice 2 Sep., 1232; in 1216 he introduced into Ireland the order of the Franciscans; in 1229 that of the Dominicans; two years after built the Franciscan Abbey of Youghal; a distinguished soldier; married Juliana, daughter of John de Cogan, Lord Justice of Ireland 124
