Thomas FitzMaurice was born in 1230 in Banada Castle, Sligo, Ireland.1 Thomas FitzMaurice's father was Baron Maurice FitzGerald and his mother was Juliane de Cogan. His maternal grandparents were Sir John de Cogan and Marie de Prendergast. He had a brother named Maurice. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 41 in 1271 in Ballyloughmask, Mayo, Ireland.1 General Notes
