John Martin was born on February 12th, 1808 in , Shelby, Kentucky, USA. John Martin's father was Charles Smith EASTIN and his mother was Sarah Sallie SWEARINGEN. His paternal grandparents were Philip Lt. EASTIN and Sarahanna Hite SMITH. He had four brothers and seven sisters, and also three siblings of unknown gender, named Vanison Swearingen, Harmon S, Infant, Harmon A, Susanna, Mary Alice, Eliza, Mahalia, Margaret, Matilda M, Harriet A, Infant, Infant and Infant. He was the second oldest of the fifteen children. He died at the age of 84 on April 5th, 1892 in , Coles, Illinois, USA.-
