Alice was born in 1279 in Launceston, Somersetshire, England. Alice's father was William DeBotreaux and her mother was Mrs Alice Debotreaux. Her paternal grandparents were Reynold (Reginald) DeBotreaux and Mrs Matilda Debotreaux. She had three brothers named William, Reynold (Reginald) De and John.
