John Darell

John was born in 1294 in Sessay, Yorkshire, England.¹ John's father was Sir William Darell and his mother was Joan de Holtby. His paternal grandparents were Sir Marmaduke Darell and Helwisa de Insula; his maternal grandparents were William de Holtby and Beatrice. He had three brothers and a sister, named Marmaduke, Thomas, William and Elizabeth. He was the third oldest of the five children.
