Her paternal grandparents were Charles Anthony Coon and Jessie Harris O'Kelley. She had two brothers and a sister, named Charles Anthony, John Beattie and Margaret Maria. She was the second oldest of the four children. She died at the age of 91 on January 29th, 2008 in Nazareth, Nelson, Kentucky. Coon, Sister Anna Catharine
COON, SISTER ANNA CATHARINE, SCN, age 91, a native of Memphis, TN, died at Nazareth Home on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. She had been a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 70 years. Sister served in the apostolate of education on the elementary, secondary and college levels in Kentucky, Virginia, Massachusetts and Maryland for 36 years. In Louisville, Sister taught grades six and seven at St. Frances of Rome School from 1944-45; Sister taught mathematics at Presentation Academy from 1950-67. Survivors include two sisters, Sister Margaret Maria Coon, who is a resident at Nazareth Home, and Mary O'Kelley Toombs of Fairhope, AL; nieces and nephews; and her Sisters in the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday in St. Vincent Church, Nazareth. Burial will be in Nazareth Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Nazareth Home, Louisville, and after 4 p.m. in St. Vincent Church, Nazareth. A Prayer Service will be 6:30 p.m. in St. Vincent Church, Nazareth on Thursday evening. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY.
