Isham was born on November 9th, 1821 in Henry County, Kentucky.1   Isham's father was Thomas Coombs and his mother was Elizabeth. He had a brother and a sister, named Greenberry and Emily.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died at the age of 65 on October 8th, 1887 in Glasgow, Barren County, Kentucky.1
