Earl Richard Burke VIII of was born in 1639 in Clanricarde, Ireland. Earl Richard Burke VIII of's father was Earl William Burke VII of Clanricarde and his mother was Honorable Lettice Shirley. His maternal grandparents were Baron Henry Shirley II of Shirley and Dorothy Hereford dau of Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Earl John Burke IX of, Sir Ulich Burke of, Lord Thomas Burke of, Lord William Burke of, Lady Catherine Burke of, Lady Helena Burke of, Lady Margaret Burke of and Lady Honora Burke of. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 63 in November 1702.-
