Margaret was born in 1316 in Modbury,Kingsnridge,Devonshire,England. Margaret's father was Sir Richard Champernoun and her mother was Elizabeth Joan Valletort. Her maternal grandparents were HUGH DE VALLETORT and LUCIA LE BRET. She had three brothers named RICHARD, JOHN and THOMAS. She was the youngest of the four children.¹
