Margaret was born in 1341 in Botylet, Lanreath, Cornwall, England. Margaret's father was William DeBotreaux and her mother was Isabel Moel. Her paternal grandparents were Reynold (Reginald) De Botreaux and Mrs Elizabeth Botrem. She had two brothers and a sister, named William, Thomas and Elizabeth.
