Robert Bertram

Robert was born in 1198 in Mitford Castle, Morpeth, Northumberland, England.¹ Robert's father was Robert Bertram I and his mother was Mable de Clare. His paternal grandparents were Richard Bertram I and Menebell Gisulph; his maternal grandparents were 2nd Earl of Hertford Roger (The Good) de Clare and Maud de St. Hilaire. He had three brothers and a sister, named Richard, John, Christian and Aelina. He was the youngest of the five children.
