John Robert Beatty 
John was born on February 18th, 1831 in Leitchfield, Grayson Co., Kentucky.1 John's father was John P. Beatty and his mother was Elmina McGrew. His paternal grandparents were William Beatty and Delilah Pirtle; his maternal grandparents were Reed McGrew and Mary (Polly) Fulkerson. He had four brothers and a sister, named William, Adam, Miles, Andrew and Delilah. He was the third youngest of the six children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, William, James, Henry, Emily and Nancy.-
