Abigail was born on March 11th, 1656 in New Haven, Connecticut.¹

Abigail's father was Thomas Barnes and her mother was Mary Andrews. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Barnes and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were John Andrews and Mary. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Daniel, Maybe, Thomas, Ebenezer, Mercy, Martha, Sarah and Elizabeth. She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.
