Gilbert BROWNING 
Gilbert was born about 1807 in Tennessee. Gilbert's father was Elijah G. BROWNING and his mother was Jane (Mrs. Elijah) BROWNING. His paternal grandparents were Caleb Browning and <Unknown>. He had two brothers and two sisters, named William J., James R., Esther A. and Melissa. He was the oldest of the five children. He died on November 2nd, 1883 in Franklin Co., IL.. He was buried in Browning Cem., Royaling, IL..General Notes
Gilbert Browning settled in what is now Six Mile Township, and received 600 acres of land from the government. He lived his entire life here.
