  Below is the will of Edmund Browning, written 6 Mar 1858 and probated 3 Mar 1868. Edmund, son of Nimrod Browning, was born 25 Dec 1791, probably in NC, and died 29 Jun 1867; he was buried in Lindley Cemetery, Sullivan Co MO.Edmund resided in Robertson Co TN before moving to Hopkins Co KY and on to MO.
  
  The will and accompanying admin documents were transcribed from microfilm copy of Vol. B 1864-1887 Letters & Bonds, Grundy Co MO. None of the copy is really good and some of it is illegible.
  
  I do not know why James Winters was appointed to administer the estate;
  Edmund's son Wesley was resident in another state, but, as far as I am able to determine, his son William was living in MO when Edmund died.

  I Edmund Browning [about 4 words illegible] being of sound mind and disposing memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner and form as follows to wit:
  
  1st It is my will all my funeral and burial expenses together with all debts which may rightfully remain against me at my death be paid by my Executors hereinafter named.
  2nd I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Cynthia Browning all my estate both real and personal to have and to [use??] the same as in her judgment may be best for her comfort during her natural life.

  3rd It is my will that my yellow girl called Peggy and her daughter Satilpa, now slaves, shall at the death of my wife be set free, and that my executors hereinafter named take the proper step according to law to give them their freedom legally at the expense of my estate [illegible] them [illegible] together that they may mutually help each other.
  
  4th At the death of my wife Cynthia Browning I give and bequeath to my beloved children Wesley Browning, William Browning, and Eliza Neal, formerly Eliza Browning all my estate both real and personal that may remain after the death of my wife Cynthia Browning to be equally divided among them each to share and share alike.
  
  5th It is my will and I do hereby constitute my sons hereinafter named William and Westley Browning my executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills made by me. Signed and sealed on this the 6th day of March 1858.

  Be it remembered that on this 3rd day of March 1868 personally appeared before me the undersigned Judge of the Probate Court within and for said county and State James Winters one of the subscribing witnesses [two or three words illegible] will of Edmund Browning and being by me first duly sworn
  deposes and says that he saw Edmund Browning the testator subscribe to same in his presence and published the said will as his last will that its testator was at the time of .... will of sound mind and more than twenty-one years of age and James winters the [deponent?] attested said will as one of its witnesses thereto by subscribing his name to the same in the presence and at the request of said estator.
