Emich was born about 1082 in Alt-Leiningen, Pfalz, Bavaria.1   Emich's father was Count Emich of Leiningen I and his mother was Countess Adelheid of Leiningen. He had three brothers named Gerlach, Konrad and Siegfried.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died in 1141.1
