Geoffrey was born in 1155 in West Greenwich, Kent, England. Geoffrey's father was Geoffrey de Say I and his mother was Alice Maminot. His paternal grandparents were William de Say I and Beatrice de Mandeville; his maternal grandparents were Hugh Maminot and Emma Peverel. He was an only child. He died at the age of 75 in 1230 in Gascoign, Poitou, France.-
