Philip was born in 1180 in Nether Stowey, Somerset, England. Philip's father was Philip de Columbars and his mother was Cecily Unknown. His paternal grandparents were Philip de Columbieres 3 and Maud Candos 3. He was an only child. He died at the age of 77 in 1257.
