Another Father in Israel has fallen! Brother Richard Barlow is nomore. He died suddenly of dropsy of the heart, at his residencenear Indian Springs, Butts County, Ga, on 12th May 1864, in his 80thyear. He was born in Virginia, moved to Lawrence (sic) County,Ga., in early life, but for 24 years has lived in and near thisplace. Bro. Barlow was not an ordinary man.

But for 54 years he wore the adorning profession of Christ,

For fifty years he filled the office of a deacon well, and was formany years a delegate to the Association. Having a liberalfortune, his house was ever open to God’s people especially hisministers. He contributed liberally to the endowment of MercerUniversity

Bro. Barlow raised a large and interesting family of children.The aged and infirm wife is bereft as the vine from which the stormhas driven away the strong oak around which it clung for support.
