He was the valedictorian of Daviess County High School and the firstchild of George and Sallie Best to attend college. After hisgraduation from the University of Kentucky, he went to work for theS.S. Kresge Company, havin a career with them for 46 years. Hemanaged stores in Bluefield, West Virginia; Columbus, Ohio; andLafayette, Indiana. He and his wife had no children.
