John L. was born on April 3rd, 1871 in Hickman Co., Tennessee. John L.'s father was Zachary Taylor Miller and his mother was Mary Ann Elizabeth Beasley. His maternal grandparents were Hilliard Beasley and Isabelle Griffin. He had two brothers and five sisters, and also two siblings of unknown gender, named William Barnett, E. Luther, Susanna Eudora Ella, Mary Lelia Belle, Rosie, Glendora, Nettie Sonona Zulene, Baby and Baby. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 3 in February 1875 in Hickman Co., Tennessee. He was buried in Hickman Co., Tennessee.-
